Geriatrics is the medicine division that focuses on the promotion, prevention, diagnosis and management of illness and disability of older adults for wellbeing.

Geriatricians are known for handling elderly medical problems and treating people with one or more geriatric syndromes, such as crashes, delirium, dementia, incontinence or polypharmacy, for the care of the whole person. They are qualified to identify problems that frequently vary among older adults; to create treatment systems that meet the unique needs of older adults in terms of health care; to engage with family and other caregivers.
